Individual Therapy
“I’ve always wanted to become a parent. I found out I can’t get pregnant and I feel so lost.”
“I don’t feel comfortable in my body. I’ve been thinking more about my gender and had my friends start using they/them pronouns.”
“I have these internal scary thoughts that I can’t let go of…it’s like a constant tape in my mind I can’t get rid of.”
“My teenage daughter seems so distant…she had a panic attack at school last month and we don’t know how to help her.”
“I grew up very religious and was taught being gay was a sin. I feel alone and want to feel accepted.”
“I had a baby four months ago, and ever since then I don’t even recognize myself. I feel so sad and angry all the time.”
“It feels like an elephant sits on my chest all day, like I can’t even take a deep breath.”
These are some of the many intros I’ve heard when working with folks in individual therapy.
Reaching out to a therapist can be an intimidating endeavor. Knowing this, our first couple of sessions will involve goal setting and explaining “what do we even DO in individual therapy?” Part of my job is to find connections among what you bring to therapy so we can identify patterns and narratives that can either be serving you, or keeping you from the growth you are seeking. In the end, I want to be able to provide a space where you can exist as you are, without having to feel like you need to apologize for it.
